    Cookie Settings

We use so-called cookies, pixels, browser fingerprinting or other tracking technologies on our website, which store information in your terminal equipment or access information that is already stored in your terminal equipment.

Cookies are small text files containing a sequence of numbers that are stored locally in the cache of the browser you are using. Pixels are single-pixel images that are created opaque or in the background colour of the website and are therefore not visible to the user. The pixel also collects information about your user behaviour on the website. Fingerprinting technologies create a unique fingerprint based on browser settings and thus identify an individual browser. By means of a script, which every internet browser automatically executes, information such as screen resolution, fonts used, operating system, hardware information and integrated browser plug-ins can sometimes be collected, which in their specific combination can ultimately enable a trace back to a specific user.

Pursuant to Sect. 25 (1) of the “Act to Regulate Data Protection and Privacy in Telecommunications and Telemedia” (TTDSG), we generally require your consent for the use of these technologies. Under Sect. 25 (2) TTDSG, such consent is not required only if the technologies either enable the transmission of a message via a public telecommunications network or if they are absolutely necessary to provide a tele media service expressly requested by you:

The elements are deleted after the specified storage period at the latest. You can prevent processing by making the appropriate settings in your browser software or by opening the browser you are using in “private mode”. In the case of elements with a storage period that is not limited to the session, you can delete the elements in the settings of your browser software after your session has ended.

As far as the elements contain personal data, such as an identifier, and which is further processed after storage or access to your terminal equipment, the legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) Sentence 1(e) GDPR in conjunction with Sect. 3 of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

    2. Technically unnecessary terminal equipment information

We also use cookies, pixels, browser fingerprinting and other technologies on the website that are not technically necessary. In accordance with legal requirements, we only use these technologies with your consent.

    a) Matomo

Functionality: The web analytics service “Matomo” uses technologies such as “cookies”, “tracking pixels” or “browser fingerprinting” to store information on users' end devices or to access such information. The information and access data generated in this way are then processed for the purpose of statistical analytics of website usage. The access data includes, in particular, the IP address, browser information, the website previously visited and the date and time of the server request. “Matomo” is used with the extension “anonymizeIp()”. This means that IP addresses are processed in abbreviated form to make it more difficult to identify individuals.

The storage period is 30 minutes.

    b) YouTube

Recipient: YouTube LLC (head office at 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, US; hereinafter “YouTube”). Responsible party within the EU: Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Functionality: Via plug-ins of the streaming platform “YouTube.de” or “YouTube.com” integrated on our website, videos can be played directly on our website. When using the streaming function, information is also processed that is stored on users' terminal equipment. The purpose of the data processing is to integrate visual content (videos) published on “Youtube.de” or “Youtube.com” on this website. The videos are embedded in “extended privacy mode”, which means that no data about you as a user will be transferred to YouTube if you do not play the videos. When videos are played on our website, YouTube receives the information that you have retrieved the corresponding page of our website. In addition, access data such as IP address, browser information, the website previously visited, and the date and time of the server request is transmitted to YouTube. This occurs regardless of whether YouTube provides a user account that you are logged in with or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be directly associated with your account. If you do not wish for this data to be associated with your YouTube profile, you must log out before activating the button. YouTube stores your data as usage profiles and processes it, regardless of whether you have a YouTube account, for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or the demand-oriented design of its website.

Storage period: For more information on the period, YouTube stores such data, please refer to the privacy information at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en (External link).

Third country transfer: The consent for using “YouTube” also includes consent to a possible transfer of data to the US. The US is classified by the European Court of Justice as a country without an adequate level of data protection and without appropriate guarantees according to EU standards. In particular, there is a risk that your personal data may be processed by US authorities for control and monitoring purposes, possibly without the possibility of using a legal remedy to prevent access to data or to have the illegality of the access established. In addition, there is no guarantee that your data subject rights can be fully exercised and that supervisory authorities in the US will provide appropriate remedies. The use of “YouTube” requires the third country transfer. If you do not wish to consent to the third country transfer, you must deselect “YouTube”.

    c) German Bundestag

Recipient: Deutscher Bundestag (Platz der Republik 1, 11011 Berlin, Germany)

How it works: We are using plug-ins of the German Bundestag on our website, which enable videos to be played directly on our website. When the streaming function is used, information that is stored on users' end devices will be processed as well. The purpose of the processing of data is to integrate into our website visual content (videos) published by the German Bundestag. The videos are embedded in “extended privacy mode”, which means that no user data will be transferred to the German Bundestag if no videos are played. When a video is played on our website, the German Bundestag receives the information that the corresponding subpage of our website has been accessed. Information will then also be stored on the users’ end devices by means of technologies such as cookies or browser fingerprinting, or such information will be accessed. The German Bundestag collects the data, especially the IP address, by means of the web analysis service “Matomo”. The collected data will be used in an anonymised form to analyse the use of the German Bundestag's website and to improve the website.

Storage period: For further information on the storage period on the German Bundestag website please go to www.bundestag.de/en/service/privacy (External link)
