26 April 2022 Where crises multiply risks, women multiply solutions

In their guest contribution for Devex, Minister Svenja Schulze and Executive Director of UN Women, Sima Bahous, argue that gender equality is a precondition for global progress, as well as a vital ingredient in our ability to respond effectively to crises and development challenges.


The world faces three major concurrent global challenges that threaten sustainable development, peace, and security: the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, violent conflict, and the looming effects of climate change. How we respond to them will define us for generations to come. Yet at this time of unprecedented need for coherent and sustainable response, the innovation and leadership of half the world’s population are being largely excluded.
