2 and 3 June 2025 Hamburg Sustainability Conference – Global Alliances for a Sustainable Future
In times of growing geopolitical challenges, the HSC is fostering multilateral exchanges, strengthening cooperation between the Global South and the North, facilitating open dialogue and aiming to strengthen trust and innovative approaches in international partnerships.
Issues such as the reforms of the international financial architecture, investments in sustainable development and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in realising the SDGs will be taking centre stage at the conference.
The German Development Ministry (BMZ) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are, for instance, preparing the Hamburg Declaration on Responsible AI for the Sustainable Development Goals together, which is to be adopted during the conference.
The Declaration is to illustrate how AI can promote sustainable development for all and lay down principles for the sustainable and responsible use of AI. Countries, civil society, the private sector and international organisations are all pulling together, working to build new alliances.
Initiators
The Hamburg Sustainability Conference is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the Michael Otto Foundation.
