The focus of this conference which took place on 9 and 10 November in Berlin was on how the economic empowerment of women can reduce poverty and inequality and contribute to sustainable economic growth. Today, on the International Day for Biological Diversity, the G7 has released its Elmau Progress Report: "Biodiversity – a vital foundation for sustainable development”. Every year, prior to its summit of heads of state and government, the G7 presents a report on the progress it has made in meeting its development-related commitments.
07.05.2015 | Berlin – Germany wants to foster climate risk insurance
At a conference held as part of Germany's G7 Presidency, Minister Gerd Müller highlighted the importance of climate risk insurance for developing countries. Together with its G7 partners, Germany seeks to improve the protection of the poorest in developing countries through insurance, with a view to better protecting them against the impact of climate change. Minister Müller announced that Germany would make available 150 million euros under the G7 initiative for the development of climate risk insurance.

More than 100 high-ranking representatives of central banks and regulatory authorities from the MENA region came together in Berlin in late April for a conference on financial inclusion in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region) in the context of the Deauville Partnership. One concrete outcome of the conference was the adoption of a regional action plan on financial inclusion.

10.3.2015 - "Promoting decent work worldwide through sustainable supply chains" - Andrea Nahles and Gerd Müller open international G7 stakeholder conference
Andrea Nahles, Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, launched a joint "Supply Chains Standards" initiative with a two-day conference in Berlin under the umbrella of Germany’s G7 presidency. With 88 days to go until the G7 summit, they discussed proposals for implementing labour, social and environmental standards in global supply chains.
