The German contribution

Supporting multinational programmes

Rain forest in Brazil

Germany contributes to all major forest-related multinational programmes. Approximately one third of Germany’s development policy funds for forest protection is channelled to partner countries through multilateral or intergovernmental institutions.

Germany is also involved in the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Among other things the BMZ played a role in the GEF creating a funding component for sustainable forest management and REDD.
