What we do

Knowledge management

Communicating lessons learnt

Knowledge of solutions and instruments -factors contributing to their success and challenges that have been faced - is a crucial resource in the effective implementation of development cooperation in the extractive sector. Learning from experience means avoiding mistakes, reducing risks, harnessing opportunities and improving the quality of advice and the implementation of projects in the extractive sector. Processing and managing this knowledge for German development cooperation is one of the tasks of the Extractives and Development sector programme.

Knowledge management involves documenting experience gained during implementation, systematising results models and analysing lessons learned. The insights obtained provide the basis for developing new approaches, which are piloted in German development cooperation projects. The findings and lessons learned are also incorporated into the advisory services provided to BMZ.
