German development policy activities: Realising human rights
Where development policy helps to reduce poverty, improve people's health, increase social security and enable political participation and self-help, it contributes to the realisation of human rights.
Germany is working at various levels to achieve that goal:

At global level – by supporting the development of international human rights instruments and institutions.

In partner countries – through political dialogue with governments and concrete programmes.

In Germany – by means of publicity campaigns that raise public awareness of human rights issues.
BMZ has defined practical measures in its Development Policy Action Plan on Human Rights.
