With the theme of "Cooperating for Sustainability” the Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asia’s largest development bank, took place in Frankfurt from 2 to 5 May 2016. A record attendance of more than registered 4,000 decision makers from Asia, Europe, the US and Canada reflected the high level of interest at the international level for development financing in Asia. Germany, the biggest European shareholder of the ADB, hosted the Annual Meeting for the first time.

The focal themes were climate change, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), municipal partnerships and urban development and sustainable supply and production chains. A key topic was also how to mobilise the private sector to finance sustainable development.
