The individual players (selection)
National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB)
The National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) is based in Braunschweig and Berlin. Metrology is the theory of weights, measures and measuring systems.
The PTB has been implementing Technical Cooperation projects on behalf of the BMZ since the 1960s. Its fields of work are, for instance, mensuration, standardisation, testing and quality assurance. PTB projects aim to establish and expand internationally recognised quality infrastructures in developing countries and emerging economies. Thus, these countries too can improve their competitiveness in world trade. The PTB is currently involved in nearly 50 development-policy projects and thus, directly or indirectly, helps more than 80 partner countries. This work is largely financed by the BMZ.
