Church Development Service (EED)
The Church Development Service (EED) is the development arm of the Protestant churches in Germany. Its partners include churches, Christian organisations and private executing agencies working in the field of development cooperation. The EED advises its partners and supports them financially. It places German specialists in projects abroad and provides scholarships for junior experts from partner countries. Every year it promotes about 300 projects and programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America, Oceania, South Eastern Europe and in the Caucasus.
The EED was founded in 1999 and has since brought together the hitherto independent church development services:
-
Dienste in Übersee e.V.
(Service Overseas) -
Evangelische Zentralstelle für Entwicklungshilfe e.V. (EZE)
(Protestant Association for Cooperation in Development) -
Kirchlicher Entwicklungsdienst (KED)
(Churches' Development Service) -
Ökumenisch-Missionarischer Weltdienst (EMW-ÖMW)
(Ecumenical Mission and Service).
