Financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises
Some 300 million enterprises across the world have no access to credit for their businesses. It is a problem that particularly affects small and medium-sized enterprises. Since it is hard for them to build up reserves, this makes it difficult for them to make investments, shield themselves from risk or survive through hard times.
During Germany's Presidency of the G20, work will therefore continue on implementing the G20 Action Plan on SME Financing. Part of this involves analysing the conditions within which SMEs operate. Another part of the Plan is to examine how innovative financing models can help integrate SMEs into sustainable global supply chains and how policy-makers can help rural SMEs to adapt to climate change and pursue ecologically sustainable development.
