International Planned Parenthood Federation

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global umbrella organisation of 148 independent national member organisations, which work in more than 150 countries to improve sexual and reproductive health, to establish and mainstream the underlying rights, and to improve access to relevant services especially for poor, disadvantaged and underserved population groups.

The IPPF thus makes an important contribution to implementing the decisions adopted at the 1994 World Population Conference in Cairo and to achieving the goals of the Millennium Declaration. The BMZ has supported the organisation for decades both in the form of voluntary contributions to the core budget and with additional trustee funds to fund individual projects. In 2008, Germany paid a total of 3.4 million euros to the IPPF.
