bengo – Advice centre for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in the field of development cooperation

bengo works on behalf of the BMZ, and facilitates the access of private organisations and other groups and initiatives working in the field of development to public funding. bengo supports and advises these private providers in their applications for state funding for their projects. It then helps these non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with the implementation of their projects and with the subsequent settlement of project accounts.

The work of bengo focuses on small NGOs working on a voluntary basis. These organisations receive help to acquire the procedural and administrative expertise they need to realise their measures. bengo is also responsible for checking that all applications for funding received by the BMZ from private providers of development services are correct and that they meet the formal criteria set.

bengo also provides advice on how to apply for EU funding and on the implementation of EU projects. It offers seminars to this end. bengo's clients also include NGOs from developing countries. They are advised on the structure and procedures of German development cooperation.
